Lightning Bugs and Mosquitos

https://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=17hMp19URqQ8dmUcdyzognOGrNXPBVdsX

I am sitting here in my new back yard. The weather is nice and cool. A bit chilly, actually. I love being on top of a mountain - it cools off quickly at the end of the day.

I am watching the lightning bugs and trying to squash as many mosquitoes as I can get to.

I was easily getting all the mosquitoes near my face when I first got out here. I just realized that as the sun goes down, my aim must be off. My vision must not be quite as good for depth perception now that the sun has gone down a bit!

I am missing the mosquitoes more often then getting them.

Our vision (or at least mine) is such a curious thing. Full of nuances. Things I can see and things I can’t.

I hope everyone is having a lovely summer. It sure makes a difference this year to have so many people vaccinated and out and about! Last year was quite a different phenomenon.

Happy Summer!

Thank you for reading my blog and I sure would appreciate a positive comment if you’ve got one to share.

  1. I really miss lightning bugs, or fireflies as we call them, or “light flies” as my child used to call them.
